Job Post: Part-time Summer Programme Team Leaders

Brief Description

Our organisation runs summer courses for undergraduate students (a.k.a. OSP) and professionals (a.k.a. OTP) who will be based in colleges of Oxford most of time, with possible short stays in London, Cambridge or Wales. This year, we will have got a record-breaking number of students coming from abroad. Hence we are recruiting some enthusiastic part-time team leaders (TL).

The role of a TL is the first point of contact for students in most cases. They are required to be friendly, approachable and to lead / assist in the running of the programmes. The job will require a great deal of flexibility, with an ever-changing scope of work. A successful TL shall assure all lectures and group activities run smoothly, and providing assistance as required.

It requires a flexible approach to the work, from helping organise events as per planned, to liaising with course speakers, to providing admissions guidance, answering students’ questions as they arise.

Dates:

Full or part of the period between 1 August and 1 September 2024

Job Requirements:

  • Current or former UG/PG student, or gap year students

  • Have local knowledge of the area/university stories to share with guests

  • An ability to make a connection with undergraduate students

  • An enthusiastic and fun story teller

  • Experience working with international students is a plus

  • Being good at sports/music is a plus

  • Commutable to the centre of Oxford (public transport fares are reimbursable)

Main duties:

Tasks mainly focus on, but are not limited to:

  • Airport pick-up/drop-off

  • Helping students allocate accommodation and be familiar with surroundings (e.g. shops, restaurants, POIs etc)

  • Providing knowledgeable "fun walks" of Oxford or Cambridge as scheduled

  • Assisting students with their needs

  • Socializing with students in free time breaks

  • Providing guidance on admissions

  • Assisting liaising with professors

  • Helping liaise with the Course Director

  • Helping organise transport

  • Providing logistical support

  • Assuring no one is left behind in group activities and everyone is back to accommodation no later than 11pm every day

  • Taking photos and videos during lectures and around activities generally

  • Solving problems as they arise

English

Working Hours:

  • Weekdays: 9:00 – 18:00, unless group activities arranged outside this duration. At least breaks of 2 hours apply.

  • Weekends: free, unless group activities arranged. This is likely to be inter-city travels or airport pick-up/drop-off.

  • Maximum weekly working hours: 39 hours

Others issues:

You are expected to stay with guests when it is away from Oxford (normally in London, Cambridge and Swansea). Accommodation is provided at no costs to you.
